Mix is cohesive with professional touches. Style fits the dreamy artwork, as do the lyrics. Detractor is a bit of repetition and strange phrasing with the vocal lines. They almost don't mesh at points. Gating was a nice touch. Enjoyed overall.

Mauxus responds:

I'm honoured :) thank you! If you have time to PM me the details I can try and fix the parts you mentioned. I am afraid I spent so much time on this track that I've become numb to it.

On mobile. Praying this review doesn't send prematurely. The distressing emotions and self-hatred are well conveyed throughout. However I found the progression a little simplified. Made me feel really claustrophobic with how busy the piece was. I get the feeling you'd be good in terrorcore and other horror friendly genres. Cinematic elements present were good. Mixing was good. Just didn't jive with the piece as much as I would have liked.

Sound isn't offensive. Chord progression is good. The song lacks an overarching melody, drums, etc. Keep at it though!

MateusAbrantes responds:

The lack of drums was intentional, although I totally understand why that could be considered a flaw. :)
I'll keep working on my music. And thanks a lot for scouting me!

Since this is piano midi, no points for sound design. Also doesn't sound that great. If you didn't create the text file yourself, it's against the rules. Did you create the text file?

The mix is far from perfect, but the idea is fitting. I wish the crackling sounds and glitching was a few dB quieter. They're so clear in comparison to the rest of the track, it detracts from the smooth desolation of such wide, open space. I would say this fits the artwork well, and I appreciate your thoughtful, minimalistic writing. Your use of space was well thought out aside from the glitches. Will be in my considerations, for sure.

Azhthar responds:

Thanks a lot for the good feedback! I know my mixing is always a very weak spot but it gets a lottle better with time. I actually really had problems to place the glitch percussion in the mix. At the beginning they were always too much in the background and at the end they turned out to be too loud... At least it brought some dynamics into this part ;) Sorry for the delayed response. I was unavailable for while and missed all the final part of the AIM this year :(

A very thoughtful piece. I can offer no critique. However, to answer your question, I can say, yes, I have. It lead me to wonder how many people had been born. Upon a quick search, science estimates 108 billion or so, but that's probably horribly wrong.

LexRodent responds:

Thanks for listening.
That number sounds indeed a bit hard to believe. Population counts are something way too modern, and archives are even more.

I can imagine an actual funeral for a cockroach. Since I've never heard the entire La Cucaracha, it's hard to draw comparisons, but is nice.

LexRodent responds:

Thanks. I "translated" the original to a minor key to give it that mourning vibe for harmony and melodies, then I entangled them to make it more interesting. Here's a short instrumental mariachi version if you want to check it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQLCJsIof8s

Production values of this are top notch. Lyrical content could use a little more oomph for this genre. If I were you, I'd put this in Pop. That's exactly what it sounds like. Glad to see you're still here after 7 years. That's fantastic.

I feel like RealFaction covered the majority of what I would say in my review. Drums need brought up a little bit. Lead is sticking out very hard. That's probably why it's lacking much of the punch you wanted to bring. Fits the art well but could use a little more layering. Also feel it could have gone without that last bout of nailing the chorus in the coffin. Is quite repetitive, to the point it feels longer than it is. Did enjoy the end.

This definitely sounds like some sort of olskool GBA game. I feel the progression could really use a bit of work. Quite repetitive. Feels like it doesn't really go anywhere. I can't critique beyond that since chip isn't my area of expertise. Did enjoy the listen.

Theepicosity responds:

I've never made a 3 minute long song before, (at the time of making this) so I just repeated the tune to see if it worked. Thanks!
