Hmm... I'm not sure what's going on here. The chords here seem to be all the same interval transposed. You'll want to check out something called voice leading -- it's a music concept that will help you immensely to get those tight chord progressions.

That said, your bass sounds really good. I just can't really hear anything else but it and the percussion.

Also, why choose a stock piano? Mix things up a little :)

Overall, this track is very quiet. Sounds uncompressed. Although before I would worry about compression, I would learn all you can about mixing the genres you want to make properly. Don't be afraid to copy what other people are doing in that regard. Learn by doing.

I do like what you've done with your lead, though. Interesting and funky melody over an unconventional house arrangement. The lead made your progression work much better than I thought it would.

This is really quiet, but I can hear what sounds like a nice djenty style, if not the occasional nasty fretting here and there.

But definitely invest in a cab sim if this is digital distortion -- it sounds like it. You can also turn down the presence and tone. If you are recording direct line in, you'll also have this problem. You'll want a DI box.

Short piece, but fraught with tension. Wish there were a proper outro. Interesting.

Genuinely sounds good. Nice, upbeat, concise. Still could use less wet FX but I understand this must be a part of your production by this point in time.

Interesting melody here, but I'm noticing a theme here, overly wet FX on 4-step arps. I do like the diminished chords though!

DrunkGecko responds:

i'll work on dat moisture ;3

Hmm, I pretty much agree with Paranoid's review, except for one point -- it's not that your drum samples are super loud -- it's that they're boxy in the low mid range and really dry sounding. Maybe a gated reverb on your bongos would fix it?

DrunkGecko responds:

dude, i really apprieciate your reviews :D
thank you so much for taking the time to help me man! if you ever wanna work on something together lemme know, you seem nice :)

This is actually pretty cool. Bass line coming in though is really over reverbed/chorused. I do really like this idea though.

I'm not really sure what's going on for the most of the track. It sounds like a big room house kick on some really empty techno leads. Instead of having that snare on 4, I would have one measure of 4 kicks, then 3 kicks and a snare. As is this is pretty short and I can't really get a sense of where we're going. Needs a bassline or something to carry it.

Actually some pretty crazy musical ideas going on here, in a way I like... But it's missing a bassline... needs something.

Interesting theme but the track is really quiet and quite minimal. The outro is also really unexpected. As in it feels like a bridge and not an outro. I was kind of disappointed there, missed opportunity to amp the track up with a variation on our initial theme.
