Great work! Takes me right back to the good old days. Especially loving the glides and arpeggiations. Now if only it looped :P

DaveMajor7 responds:

Hehe, yes it does.
I made a version that looped and I debated putting it up...
next one!

Very nice! I like the arpeggiations and octaves in the bass -- which I know is pretty common, but with the melody overlaid, it makes for a great track. I can see it as a boss battle more so than side-scrolling, but perhaps that's just due to my less than spectacular library of platformers and the like. Excellent writing!

Lead comes in a bit strongly -- almost too heavy for the mix, but still a great song. I can hear the inspiration in the 7th chords especially. Great work!

NickKaedalus responds:

Thanks for the comment and kind words‼

I'm not sure if you meant the lead synth at the beginning or the lead guitar at the chorus, but it was a bigger problem in the old mix, which I tried to fix on this one. I think it's a bit better here, but it's hard to know on other sound systems - will keep it in mind for my next tracks though.

Also glad you noticed the chords‼ The chorus and post-chorus have chord progressions I'm particularly fond of. I especially like the base guitar on the chorus, but it's quite unnoticeable in the final mix.

Rock On‼

Pretty good; I like the bass, but there was a ton of dissonance that grated on the ears after several playthroughs. Drums had a very 80's sound to me, which I liked. Around 1:15 is probably my favorite point in the piece, as well as 1:29. Very interesting sounds. After, the melodies seemed to clash a bit, but it loops nicely. I think some study of music theory would really help your transitioning and chord placement. Otherwise, good piece. Keep up the good work!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to review and enjoying the song, I have a longer version of this song that I haven't uploaded due to some issues i'm not happy with, if you're interested just PM me, but yeah I have little to no knowledge of music theory, I've been just making what I think sounds good, would like to learn more though. As for the drums I use, I tried to pick samples that I could hear on a SNES(not quite the 80's but around there) anyways, thanks again for listening and liking it!

This is not house. This is either going to be in Video Game or, well, somehwere else more 8-bit friendly. Sounds like playing centipede almost.

Was hard to tell the meter at first, but I noticed the non triads. Very nice work! Favorited, dl'ed.

Very laid back -- beautiful. I'm probably crazy, but it makes me think of Tupac. It gives me the same feeling as when I'd listen to some of his easy going tracks.

Nice, cheerful, and simple. I like it! Vocals could use just a bit more harmony to the lead, but maybe that's just my own personal taste.

Thanks for the review :)

Pretty sure you don't own this song. Track 22. http://www.machinaesupremacy.com/downloads/#jng

Akikazu responds:

you're right, this is not my song, this is my audio submission :3

Relaxing yet revitalizing at the same time. I found it really fresh -- can't tell if those are 9th chords or 7ths or what (too late in the morning, haha). But very nice. Saw lead wasn't grating, but it seemed kind of plain. Maybe modulate it a bit, like JoshuaHughes said. I'd definitely love a mix like this!

piggemz responds:

thanks for the kind words again, and yeah, that saw lead is quite plain. i never got around to making the mix but mebe one day
